Apple Introduced the Research Kit framework in 2014 to help research institutions, health industry, pharmaceutical companies – but actually app developers – to built iPhone Apps which use the device as a data collecting device. The data can be a manual input or some type of physiological data collected by the device’s various sensors: voice, sound, acceleration, movement, etc.
The app is only one part of the system – it also includes the back end database, where the users profile data (age, gender, weight, height, various medical conditions) and the regularly collected data is stored in a very secured way.
Once the data is collected, any type of analytics can be run on it – and the results can be shared with the users, if necessary.
We’ve prepared a Research Kit based Demo App for iOS 8, which demonstrates what kind of pre-defined data (both manual and sensory input) can be collected.
See below some of its screens.
